A Tribute to South African Inxiles and Exiles Concert Series 2019-2020. These series of music concerts will feature improvising musicians, working professionally in South Africa and elsewhere. The concerts organized by vocalist Kumkanikazi will be held in Komani and East London, two performances once a month from 24 September 2019 to 21 March 2020. The aim of the concert series is not only to promote improvising musicians, female bandleaders and other marginalized voices in the music industry of South Africa today, but it is to promote the culture of live performances in the Eastern Cape. My interests are in the social and political history of South Africa in the arts. These series of music concerts will present repertoires of musicians who were in South Africa and outside the country during apartheid, through a new imagination of contemporary and an older generation of improvising musicians. Through this concert project , contemporary and an older generation of improvising musicians will document, articulate and critique the history and conditions of the South African nation, which in consequence may lead to lasting discussions and to reflexions centred in and driven by the ideas of social responsibility and humanity. "Through this performance we bring to light the intangible cultural heritage and knowledge of societies." Prof Dr Bernard Bleibinger.
